June Banner: Kyle Letendre

The sixth banner in a series of twelve released monthly throughout 2021 was designed by Kyle Letendre, and chainstitched by Jenna Blazevich.

A raffle for the banner will run from 6/24/21-6/30/21, and 100% of the money raised will be donated to The LGBTQ Freedom Fund.

From Kyle: “Be Gay Do Crime” is a thing that always made the rounds on tumblr, usually as graffiti, and it's great for a lot of reasons. It reminds you that being queer can and should be subversive and fun, and that being gay or gender non-conforming used to be a crime (and still is in places). But then also like, what is a crime? If we're thinking with a transformative justice mindset, I don't feel comfortable calling it a crime to steal food or gender-affirming clothing, or protecting yourself from assault. These are acts of survival that should be supported and funded.

The The LGBTQ Freedom Fund posts bail for low-income individuals in US jail and immigration facilities, where queer folks are especially vulnerable. I'm so grateful Jenna asked me to collab on this, and so glad we can do a little something to lift up those we need it some of the most right now.
